Dog Years <> Human Years
We all know the old adage, one human year is the equivalent of 7 dog years, but most dog experts now recognise that this is actually wrong. The true age of your dog in human years depends on a wide range of factors including the size, breed, gender and general health and living conditions of your canine companion. Larger dogs age quicker and generally live shorter lives, while smaller breeds live longer and therefore age slower. Just like humans, females also tend to live longer than males. While it is not an exact science to match dog and equivalent human years, the following is a general guide;
